Obi Won Kenobi and Darth Vader duel on the Death Star, while Luke, Han,
Leia, R2D2, and C3PO try to get back to the Millennium Falcon. When Obi
sees that his companions are near the ship, he drops his defenses and
Vader kills him. At that moment, his body disappears.

If Vader had cut off one of Obi's hands before killing him, what would
have happened to the severed hand? Would it have remained or would it
have disappeared too?

OK, Vader hits Obi-Wan with his light sabre. Obi-Wan's body disappears.
Would it have mattered where on the body Vader hit Kenobi? Meaning: if Vader
aimed for the hand, would the hand come off or would Obi-Wan's body
disappear?

I'm assuming that Obi-Wan's body had disappeared because Darth Vader had
inflicted an immediately fatal wound, by slicing his body in two. Since cutting
off a hand would not be immediately fatal, Obi-Wan would not have disappeared
just from losing a hand!
